In celebrating our Amalfi heritage and traditions the Society will host their Annual Italian Festival in honor of St. Andrew beginning on the evening of Thursday, June 21st  through - Sunday, June 24th at the club grounds in Historic Wooster Square on 515 Chapel St., in New Haven, CT.

The Feast of St. Andrew is the ONLY ITALIAN FESTIVAL TO BE

HELD IN HISTORIC WOOSTER SQUARE FOR OVER 100 YEARS!

New Haven is such a wonderful place to live with all of its history and culture. However, not many people know of the hard work and dedication that the Italian-American citizens of New Haven do in keeping their history alive.  The St. Andrew the Apostle Society was formed on November 1, 1900 by the Italian immigrants from the Town of Amalfi who settled in New Haven. The Society was named after their patron Saint of Amalfi.  As some of you may know it is a common practice for Italian-Americans to commemorate the patron saints of their various villages and towns with liturgical feasts and festivals.

The Society of St. Andrew plays a major role in preserving not only the beautiful and rich culture of the Italian heritage but that of the Amalfitani people.  By keeping these traditions alive today the Society is not only honoring our ancestors but are preserving the Amalfitani-Italian heritage for the future generations to learn and enjoy.  We have spearheaded a "sister city" relationship between the city of New Haven and the Town of Amalfi by conducting educational, cultural and sports exchanges.  The St. Andrew Ladies Society bestows scholarships to young men and women of Amalfi descent each year at our Feast which is held in the month of June.

At the St. Andrew Festival you will enjoy great Italian food, free live musical entertainment nightly, and games and rides for children of all ages.  Over the years the St. Andrew's Feast has grown to attract hundreds of people of various ethnic backgrounds.  It is a great time to reunite and visit with old friends many of them from the historic Wooster Square area.  It also provides an opportunity for people of all heritages to learn and enjoy the Amalfitani Italian culture.
